What is an Inuksuk?

An Inuksuk is a pile of rocks in the shape of a person. Inuk means 'person' and suk means ‘substitute’ in the Inuit language. The inuksuk was used by the Inuit in Canada to show people the way, to warn people of danger ahead, as a memorial sign or as a helpful tool at the caribou hunt. The Inuksuk stands for Inuit power, leadership and motivation.

Tom&Co heeft een cheque van 2.000 euro overhandigd aan de afgevaardigden van het Zeepreventorium van De Haan. Dat preventorium vangt kinderen en jonge volwassenen op die kampen met chronische aandoeningen, gaande van luchtwegen en allergieën tot diabetes.

De overhandiging van de cheque gebeurde niet toevallig in Leuven. Een avonturier uit Kessel-Lo had namelijk een liefdadigheidsfeestje georganiseerd in fitness Life Style om geld in te zamelen voor het Zeepreventorium.

«Ik onderneem een nieuwe expeditie, de Atacama Crossing in de Chileense woestijn», zegt Poffé. «En aan mijn avonturen probeer ik altijd een goed doel te verbinden. Vandaar de keuze om aandacht te vragen voor het Zeepreventorium. Ik ben alleszins blij dat Tom&Co 2.000 euro heeft geschonken.»
