Through our travels and expeditions, we are more than ever convinced that nature is a perfect teacher. When travelling through pristine wilderness, over high mountains or on rough seas, you immediately feel humble, a state of mind we tend to loose in this 21first high-tech century where we think we can conquer anything !

Being outdoors, you appreciate your shelter, food and water, and you appreciate more than ever true friendship. One learns when to travel and when to stay put and listen to the teachings of the weather elements. One doesn't ‘conquer’ a mountain; the mountain lets one walk on it.

Dear Bert,
 
veronewThere are only six short kilometres separating me from my goal: completing my own 250K Atacama Crossing here  in Belgium!
During the last six months achieving this distance has been my one and only challenge.
 
I imagine you're pretty nervous now being a few days away from your next adventure. I really hope you can successfully complete the race without any problems from your knee.

There's no doubt about it that unexpected trials and tribulations will test you to the limit throughout the race and believe me, I have had my share of problems and setbacks while covering those 250k.

One day I felt like I was flying, the next day, a horrid swine flu and many other infections almost rusted the gears and stopped me dead in my tracks.
 
I am convinced that your careful planning and preparation, together with your courage and willpower, will lift you high and speedily to the finish.

So let's go Bert. I depart for Leuven for my transplantation and you depart for Chile to live a dream and live life.
