Through our travels and expeditions, we are more than ever convinced that nature is a perfect teacher. When travelling through pristine wilderness, over high mountains or on rough seas, you immediately feel humble, a state of mind we tend to loose in this 21first high-tech century where we think we can conquer anything !

Being outdoors, you appreciate your shelter, food and water, and you appreciate more than ever true friendship. One learns when to travel and when to stay put and listen to the teachings of the weather elements. One doesn't ‘conquer’ a mountain; the mountain lets one walk on it.

The past six months Bert has been preparing for one of the toughest ultra races in the World:  250 kilometers through the driest desert of the World. His ‘Atacama Quest’ was much more than only satisfying his hunger for adventure. Fund raising events were organized for the Zeepreventorium hospital. But the Atacama Crossing 2020 also became an extra motivation for the Zeepreventorium kids to eat healthy and  move to cure.

But unexpected  circumstances lead to unexpected decisions.

Together with the people and the patients of the Zeepreventorium, Bert decided he had to take this Atacama project into a new direction. The terrible earthquake not only shook the Chilenians, but also our hearts and minds.

After brainstorming with our Chilenian friends in Belgium, we decided that from now on they we all will race-run-walk together for fundraising for Chile. New events will be organized shortly to raise money for the earthquake victims.

This way, the  Zeepreventorium  kids can show their strength and determination, committing themselves to the Atacama para Tomé project.
